ジュディット・ゴーティエのフランス語随筆を翻訳しました！光妙寺三郎が大審院検事として働いていた頃に彼女に書き送った事件について書かれたものです。

個人的な光妙寺への興味もありますが、この随筆は明治時代の政府の近代化と古い迷信との衝突を垣間見れる面白い資料だと思います。

今日もRTが回ってきたので、ちょっと更新〜‼️実は1908年の『巴里』原版を購入しました!序文は西園寺自身が書いたものではなく、翻訳者が西園寺に宛てた手紙らしくて、西園寺のことを褒めて、本を読んでもらうようにお願いしてるみたいなんです（たぶん）（古くて読み難い）

私は日本語ネイティブではないので、明治時代の日本語は漢字の音読みから意味を推測してるだけなんです（笑）だから理解が間違ってる可能性もありますけど😭それが1908年版エミール・ゾラの『巴里』(飯田旗郎訳)の序文です！
