Information just has no consequence anymore. Like if this came out in any other era it would be The Main Thing for a long time. Now it's just like yeah I guess that makes sense.
@AKentuckia80455@jputerka@bigmacadamia55 There are a couple of really interesting videos about vision in elite athletes. Most insane thing I found out after watching that though, is that Steph has astigmatism. It's fixed with contacts – but STILL. There's no explanation man. He's 1 of 1 😭
@WesleyP65443 Do you... do you think that "use value" is an arbitrary definition that I've created 💀?
Yeah brother, you take care. Refer to earlier tweet – you're just a little dumb. #muted
@beatmastermatt I hear you and totally agree with the overarching point lol... but theoretically, wouldn't the "greatest con man" have to trick someone much more intelligent than the average bovine?
@WesleyP65443 Wait, no shit?🤯
I'm leaving it at this: to me, a BS job is something that doesn't create societal use value. That's not your view and why we're talking past each other. Fwiw tho, your definition based on firm exchange value is also incorrect. Idk what else to tell you, big guy.
@WesleyP65443 If you think every single job has some societal benefit just simply because it exists, then I don't really know what to tell you. You're operating on bad priors. If you're saying "HR, legal, audit, compliance, finance" are things that need to exist, then of course I agree.
@WesleyP65443 I don't really know how to tackle this because from a broad perspective, all of those things are necessary. I'm talking a step lower and a step higher. Individual roles are often useless and the entire economy promotes certain industries that don't create use value = revenue. 1/2
@WesleyP65443 Is your belief actually that there are more or less no useless jobs because if they were truly useless, they wouldn't exist? I want to clarify your stance.
@WesleyP65443 I literally linked a whole book💀
I also didn't know we were being shitty? If we are arguing, I think you're obviously a bit dumb and do something useless on a 34th floor somewhere.
(And doing something useless isn't the thing that makes you dumb, btw.)
@WesleyP65443@JoshuaAzria@TetraChad Those are on the list too, but it's not just protection against bad actors, which you could argue is innate in society. It's things that are over-bureaucratized or hyper-financialized. It's okay to participate in society with one of these jobs but also recognize the absurdity.
🚨 BREAKING: Cole Palmer: “I’ve got no plans to move club, and when I see it I just laugh. Obviously Manchester is my home. All my family are there, but I don’t miss it. Maybe I’ll miss it if I don’t go for three months or something. But then when I get home I think there’s nothing there for me anyway” https://t.co/qoeWpjpVNH
@WesleyP65443@JoshuaAzria@TetraChad Yes, that is true. But there are also a vast number of meaningless jobs that either are explicitly unnecessary, or wouldn't need to exist in a better world.
Highly recommend Bullshit Jobs by David Graeber.
