A year ago today I had a pretty major operation. It took the surgeon and his team 10+ hours to - very neatly - remove my entire large colon. To mark the occasion I have redone my website. https://t.co/ppOTKLdUoj
@cathy_dutton It was a bit like Mastadon, but with more tech bros being forced on me. Mastodon is the nicest when you can actually find your people. There’s no footy on there though. Which may also be a good thing.
I keep hearing that rugby does it better. It does. But rugby referees are treated with respect at every level. The mindset all round is in a much better place.
Being a football referee is crap. From every level of your career you are abused and treated with a complete lack of respect. Most normal people pack it in because it’s just not worth it. The ones that stick it out have a certain mentality. Which, ultimately, leads to this.
@footydevotion Yeah defo the Amiga had all the proper names. The PC version had to worry about licences. The good thing was you could ‘hack’ the PC version with an editor, including stats etc. The first proper website I ever made was dedicated to a project providing a fully updated patch.
@Cennyddball The players seem to enjoy it too. But I fully get there isn’t enough space in the schedule. The biggest thing is that cricket is visible again, it disappeared after 2005 and that did so much damage.
@Cennyddball Yeah. We’ve been to more T20 matches … and they’re great. Especially if it’s a TV one. But I quite like that the Hundred is a bit different. Metric cricket vs imperial. It’s got me invested in a team with Manchester in the name so it must be doing something.
@Cennyddball The Hundred has been a massive part of the whole family embracing cricket. My wife and 14 year old daughter especially. It does have something about it.
Is there anyone still here that has anything to do with the BBC news site? We (flood team in Defra) are investigating a couple of things and it would be great to get a bit of info around stories with interactive tools on them. Any help appreciated.
