One of my favorite things I saw in Sudan was the revolutionary artwork. It lines the streets of the capital city. Here's a painting of the word "Revolution" using the colors of Sudan's first flag after independence, a symbol of the protest movement. Rebellion is in the air.
@ettingermentum What are you talking about? He lost his local selectman race, he lost the CD2 dem primary to Emily Cain in a 71%-29% landslide, and just came in 4th out of 5 in the Gubernatorial primary.
@AnthonyMEmerson I agree she would be a bad pick against Collins, but if we're going to use the 2014 CD2 race as evidence someone can't win, it should be noted that Emily Cain killed Troy Jackson in that race's primary in a 71%-29% landslide.
@shannonrwatts There are so many controversial posts he had that were either barely reported on or not at all. I've tried to compile some informally here: https://t.co/KXF407L3I0
@aobrien2010 I mean, you defended Platner when he retweeted a right-wing influencer last month, but yeah, I agree Ben shouldn't be retweeting right-wing influencers, and it's valid to point out when he does.
@aobrien2010@chitownsam723b@SamsOldXAccount What about by someone who doesn't support the Gaza genocide? I'm not really the scolding type, I'd rather discuss the senate race in a less combative way, but I can give it a shot if you'd like
@aobrien2010@SamsOldXAccount Yeah that's kind of the issue Andy, everyone knows marines kill people, Platner knew it, and in fact that's the reason he signed up in the first place.
@aobrien2010 For the record, there are also plenty of people, such as myself, who take issue with Platner precisely because we’re against Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Only one candidate in the Maine U.S. Senate race has made a career out of killing Arabs overseas and it isn’t Janet.
@aobrien2010@alexva2920 Perhaps I misunderstood what your concerns were. I don’t care much what class category he falls in, but you seem to put a lot of emphasis on class distinctions, so it seems like something you’d care about and therefore reasonable for someone to note it
@alexva2920@aobrien2010 As I said, I’m not particularly concerned about exactly which category he’s in, but it should be noted that the definition you say Graham gives of “working class” is a lot different than how Andy was defining it when someone pointed out Graham doesn’t fit Andy’s definition
@aobrien2010 The commitment she had that she went to instead of the debate was the Sexual Assault Prevention & Response Services Annual Awards at UMF. The event you posted was from the day before. I know you know that but just figured I’d comment in case it is relevant to others.
@AnthonyMEmerson Although many years ago and largely forgotten, she did have to run from behind in the 1994 Maine 2nd congressional district race, which she lost in the primary to John Baldacci. Not particularly relevant, but a fun Maine election history fact nonetheless
@tamarackhack91@AnthonyMEmerson Also Platner supporters should want her to stay in the race if you think he’s going to beat her so badly, it’ll make him look good and give him credibility having beaten an establishment figure. We should want to see him vetted before the general to make sure he can beat Collins
@impoliticeye@AnthonyMEmerson I’m not even defending her campaign here, simply trying to make sure we get the facts straight. Regardless of someone’s take on her campaign, I think we should try to make sure we get the facts right and do so in good faith
@impoliticeye@AnthonyMEmerson What I’m saying is that I don’t think she’s pulling out of this debate because as far as I’m aware this isn’t one of the debates she was ever scheduled to do in the first place. I’d agree with you if she had said she was going to do this debate and then canceled last minute
@tamarackhack91@AnthonyMEmerson Also, when she announced the debates many Platner supporters claimed it showed desperation on her part and was bad for her to do, now the same people claim she's backing out of a debate/criticizing her for it. No matter what she does they'll find some way to say it's actually bad
@tamarackhack91@AnthonyMEmerson I think it's relevant because the framing of "she backed out of a debate she had previously agreed to" vs "she simply didn't attend an event she had never scheduled in the first place" is very different.
