@ScottishAAM Thanks, couldn’t quite remember what was on my birth certificates as it been so long since I’d looked at them. Had to double check after the interview 😂😂
@Fenien_ @adopteecrossing I know, it’s really difficult to believe in yourself when you’re adopted. However, we’ve bounced back from being kicked out our families & are still going. Adoptees must be amongst the most resilient of people.
@LinaLeadsWLove @AveryIsaac7 @GusWatanabe Her books really helped me when I first read them 20 years or so ago as it was the first time I’d seen many of my issues addressed, is there a newer alternative out there?
@OMGitsagirl2015 @themouthyoufeed @PaulMuadDude @ShesKindaALot @johnrgregg I know, a very common emotion I think. Many of us were left thinking- how did I benefit from that?
I was separated from four full siblings allegedly for my own benefit. I got to go to uni I guess - but then so did the rest of them without all the trauma I had to face.
@ShesKindaALot You get a lot of pro adoption dafties on here who jump in without really knowing what they’re talking about as they’ve no lived experience of it. If we frame every debate as “it’s all for the benefit of the child” they can’t say anything as it’s only the adoptee who matters.
@themouthyoufeed @PaulMuadDude @ShesKindaALot @johnrgregg Yeah, me too. It seems like a common occurrence, the needs of adults being prioritised over vulnerable children. That’s why this debate is important & the voices of those directly impacted properly listen to rather than shut down.
