The Red Sox lead all of baseball in 9th inning runs scored, and yet are 0-34 when trailing after eight innings. They're running a masterclass in not getting hits when they actually need them.
The #RedSox today reinstated RHP Garrett Whitlock from the 15-Day Injured List. To make room, Boston optioned INF Anthony Seigler to Triple-A Worcester.
In 2009, Chad Tracy's father, Jim Tracy took over a team midseason after the previous manger was fired. The club found itself double digit games under .500 by the first week of June, and their young shortstop coming off an injury plagued season the year before was hitting .218.
A week into June of that year, the shortstop changed his batting stance to include a new toe tap for timing. Then on June 8th, he hit his first HR using the new toe tap and never looked back. Today, on June 8th, Marcelo Mayer entered the game hitting .218, and hit his first HR using the new toe tap.
The shortstop was Troy Tulowitzki and the team was the 2009 Rockies, who went on to win 92 games.
Carlos Narvaez on his reduced playing time with Mickey Gasper now in the mix, via @jcmccaffrey:
“I haven’t talked with nobody, and nobody has talked with me… But like I said, I get it, I’m a part of the team and I understand what’s going on, but on my end I just have to be ready. No one is telling me anything, if something changed — clearly something changed — but I don’t know, just be ready for the opportunity, and that’s it.”
There really aren’t any rules. You just go to court. If it fails, go to court again until a judge says you’re all set.
Want a 7th year?
Sure
Broke rules?
Ahhhh, it’s fine.
There AREN’T any rules.
