In 2011 I fostered a baby boy whose father was Muslim. Wanting to better understand the culture and needs of the family, I reached out to the Islamic Center of San Diego (ICSD), who welcomed me with open arms. I was invited to classes, to tour the mosque, to participate in their community. I was never pressured to defend my beliefs nor expected to change anything about myself. The ICSD continued to support me and this family for as along as that baby was with me..
