Steam reportedly made over $11 billion in the first half of 2026
A new report from Alinea Analytics says Steam made an estimated $11.1 billion from game sales during the first six months of 2026.
That's 14.5% more than the same period in 2025 and 8% more than the second half of 2025, which included the holiday season.
The report says the growth was mainly driven by:
>More players joining Steam from China.
>Older games continuing to sell very well.
>More people playing games on PC.
Steam is also estimated to have around 200 million monthly active users, making it the biggest PC gaming platform by far.

Ubisoft, whatever you fed these developers when making Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced please keep doing it.
This is arguably one of the most gorgeous looking games of 2026.
Today is testing day for the PS3 RSX pro delid tool. This is the second delid of the day on a CECHK01. Already did a CECHE01. Its going very smooth, and that's even doing it with my left hand. Next up is a CECH-2001A slim model since those are supposedly harder to delid.
One of the biggest upgrades in Black Flag Resynced is the complete removal of loading screens.
For the first time ever, you can enter every city and every island seamlessly with no load times to break up the experience. Here’s what its like sailing into Havana:
Found out it's possible to upgrade the VRAM on most PS1s. Stack two SGRAMs except for pin 28, solder a 22Ω resistor onto pin 28 and wire that to pin 121 of the GPU.
Thanks @PointerFunction for helping me test it. Hopefully someone can make use of it.
I can’t believe it took almost 20 years, but Assassin’s Creed finally has a button to take off and put on the hood at any time with left d-pad in Black Flag Resynced
Being able to jump while standing still is also back for the first time since OG AC4/Rogue 😭
CD Projekt must be absolutely thrilled with the player counts for their games:
The Witcher 3 with 30,000+ players on Steam
Cyberpunk 2077 with 100,000+ players on Steam
Considering these are Steam numbers only and don't even include console players, it's absolutely insane.
Square Enix says a Final Fantasy XV port for Nintendo Switch 2 is possible, but it won’t be easy.
During a recent shareholder meeting, the company said, “While there are certain hardware constraints when it comes to faithfully replicating the exact experience of Final Fantasy XV, we can say that it is not entirely impossible.”
When asked if the game could come to Switch 2, Square Enix didn’t make any promises. Instead, it said, “We will pass along your input to the development team as a valuable perspective on marketing and future platform options.”

Sony’s original PlayStation just got a serious hardware twist: a 16MB RAM upgrade. That’s 8x more memory for PS1 homebrew, ports and hardware experiments. Not a magic boost for old games, but a big deal for developers. #PS1#PlayStation#RetroGaming https://t.co/S0jpc4I6Ml
The latest version of Rufus allows you to create a Windows 11 installer with quality of life (QoL) improvements.
This stops Windows 11 forcing Microsoft Copilot, OneDrive and Outlook and doesn't enable Fast Startup.
A lot of PS5 owners are becoming interested in jailbreaking their consoles after Sony announced it will stop releasing new PlayStation games on physical discs.
A jailbroken PS5 can run homebrew apps, emulators, and other unofficial software. Players see it as a way to preserve games and keep older titles working in the future if Sony decides to start removing games one day.
