@Miss_HVA @DanNouveau @jackshoulder Anyway sorry for jumping in so late! At undergrad I wrote an essay getting angry about peoples' reluctance to use gay/bi/queer when talking about Alexander the Great for a @Durham_Classics module, and apparently its a torch I still carry...

@Miss_HVA @DanNouveau @jackshoulder I wonder if this sort of cagey language partly stems from the historical need for secrecy and coded terms to refer to queer identity and desire ('if you know you know ;)...') but either way imo using contextualised modern terms to explore historical queerness is a useful thing
