Trans men often get turned away from doctors offices that provide reproductive health because the doctors are expecting cis women. If using trans-inclusive language helps even one trans man access important health care, it’s worth it.
Reminder that while everyone is arguing over why a 60p bag of apples can't feed a family of 5, food banks have to make special boxes for people who don't have an oven/hob so can only use a microwave. And other boxes for people who have neither oven nor microwave nor kettle
@Miss_HVA @DanNouveau@jackshoulder Anyway sorry for jumping in so late! At undergrad I wrote an essay getting angry about peoples' reluctance to use gay/bi/queer when talking about Alexander the Great for a @Durham_Classics module, and apparently its a torch I still carry...
@Miss_HVA @DanNouveau@jackshoulder I wonder if this sort of cagey language partly stems from the historical need for secrecy and coded terms to refer to queer identity and desire ('if you know you know ;)...') but either way imo using contextualised modern terms to explore historical queerness is a useful thing
