Yes, it is very much like footbinding, especially in how linguistic manipulations are used to promote public buy-in.

During footbinding, diminutive language was used to minimize the reality of the brutal practice. The bound foot was called the "lotus foot" or "tiny foot." Today in trans brutality we have "gender affirming care," "top surgery," and "bottom surgery," to hide sterilization, chemical castration, and genital mutilation.

During footbinding, there was a common phrase told to parents, "if you love your daughter, you can't love her feet." Today in transanity parents are told, "do you want a trans child or a dead child," which is basically the same message, if you love your child, you can't love certain parts of their body.

Women and girls are quietly quitting Gaelic football because they don't want to be tackled on the pitch by males or undress in front of them. The LGFA's policy is not inclusive. Trans-identiying males can compete in the correct sex category; just as trans-identifying females do.

The HHS report details at length how pediatric medical transition is fundamentally antigay. On p. 228, it states:
"Given the medical profession’s history of pathologizing and medicalizing same-sex attraction, serious justice-related concerns are raised by the overrepresentation of gay, lesbian, and bisexual adolescents among patients receiving unproven interventions that adversely impact fertility and sexual function."
It's kind of unreal that we needed a Republican administration in order for the HHS to tell the truth about this. Under the previous (Democratic) administration, HHS officials were suppressing the publication of systematic reviews that showed the entire evidence base supporting "gender-affirming care" was crap.
I will never, ever forget how many institutions, organizations, and news outlets were complicit in the horrific abuse of vulnerable children and young people. I fear that my faith in them will never be restored.
