why is it a common thread to use a word like “disrupt” an industry from tech? what does disruption do to benefit a small part of an industry, rather than crumble it?
AI video tools like Runway and Pika have started to produce amazing results and will eventually disrupt Hollywood. (PT31)
Here are the best AI videos this week:
@raphkoster twitter has similar dezign: player killerz or “PKs” are equivalent to trollz, the explorerz are the lurkerz, commenterz are the socializerz, and tweeterz are the achieverz (goalz are likez, followerz, sharez). same could be said for other networks but twitter has this core.
on further thought - MMORPG dezign theory providez great insight into improving social media networks. @raphkoster begs the question “who am I, in this virtual reality?”
@ajoshjacobs usually the deals are killer deals - studios owning majority shares of every movie a filmmaker makes. the filmmaker could either buy out the the deal or own the distribution. both of which require leverage.
bit dark of a take but a possible truth - if u let studios own your movies. here’s an option - non-exclusive licensing at least for original movies. filmmaker owns their movie, and can license it to whomever they want to. we are accomplishing this with short movies.
There will never be another cult classic. If your movie or show underperforms, it will be removed from sight, and that eventual groundswell of support that's turned everything from Blade Runner to Heathers from disastrous flops to huge successes will never find it. The end.
furthermore - short movie distro is a very *young market. *Omeletto, old Machinima, and now dead CryptTV were some of the first pioneers to do this. Vimeo’s too expensive for what it provides. social media (or Twitch) seems like the best direct-2-consumer option.
@aadip@ScriptPipeline curious then - what about changing the business model/framework for screenwriting contests? would it be more interesting if the contest were from a production company that is actually acquiring or a director investing in a script? still no submission fees.
aight so asking @aadip - do you think that @ScriptPipeline & those other contests shouldn’t charge writers to submit to competitions and instead, charge the Hollywood lit agents, managers, execs, for the coverage service they’re providing?
Ah. This explains why Aadip blocked me…
Look, last year he tweeted that contests “make millions and millions of dollars” or something. I messaged “his boss” who I knew and said “millions? 😂”.
Just acknowledging how ridic that is.
I did not try and get anyone fired (???).
