I heard someone say, satan got Adam and Eve to fix their eyes on one tree when God had already given them an entire garden, think about that. The enemy didn't have to convince them that they had nothing. He just had to make them forget everything that they already had. And he still, till this day, uses the same strategy. He gets us to focus on relationships we don't have, the job that we don't have, the opportunity we don't have, the healing we haven't seen yet. Meanwhile, we are blind to the countless prayers god has already answered. Gratitude isn't pretending you don't want more, it's refusing to let what you don't have make you forget the goodness of God that's already surrounding you.
Splashing cold water on your face slows your heart rate within seconds, without you deciding to calm down, without a breathing exercise, and without a single thought passing through your conscious mind. It is the fastest way to shift your nervous system that does not involve a drug.
The mechanism is called the mammalian dive reflex. Cold water on the forehead and around the nose stimulates the trigeminal nerve, which sends a signal to the brainstem, which activates the vagus nerve and slows the heart by 10 to 25 percent. Blood flow moves away from the limbs and toward the brain and heart, and the whole thing takes seconds. You have no say in the matter, because the reflex bypasses the conscious mind.
It works because the body is running a program that evolved for diving. Seals, whales, and otters use this reflex to conserve oxygen underwater, and humans still carry the same wiring. When your face touches cold water, your body assumes you are going under and begins to protect your two most oxygen-sensitive organs.
Researchers have studied the reflex as a tool for panic attacks and acute anxiety, because it produces the exact opposite of what a panic attack does. A panic attack speeds the heart, tightens the blood vessels, and floods the body with adrenaline. The dive reflex slows the heart, resets the vagus nerve, and pulls the nervous system into what researchers call the parasympathetic state, the rest and recovery mode.
A bowl of cold water and ten seconds with your face in it can do what ten minutes of breathing exercises sometimes cannot. The body has an off switch. It has been in your bathroom the whole time. https://t.co/bdA57WVMQk

Former Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin and his wife Glenna adopted Jonah, a Sub-Saharan African boy, in 2012 when he was five. He was one of four Ethiopian children they took in besides their five biological children.
Jonah turned violent. He assaulted his parents in incidents police witnessed firsthand, leading to his arrest and juvenile charges. He repeatedly threatened to kill family members. Siblings found knives he hid under his mattress and in his bedside table. He threatened to chop up a sibling and physically hurt other children in the house.
He was expelled from Liahona Academy for threatening to kill another student and assaulting staff who tried to stop him. After that, no program in the United States would take him. In October 2023 he was charged again with assaulting and threatening to kill a family member during a fight with his father at home.
The family paid for residential programs, tutors, and medical care. Jonah refused to follow the rules or stay in those programs. As an adult he faced felony charges of aggravated assault, drug possession, and lying to police.
Now he is in court demanding retroactive child support, a cash grab through lawyers exploiting the racial alien after years of the family trying to handle his violence, substance abuse, and criminal record privately.
Matt Bevin was arrested and sentenced to 60 days because he refused to keep providing financial documents to an activist family court judge who insisted on making everything public instead of letting the family handle it privately.

Overanalysis has been my life story. It can be far worse than laziness, as overanalysis leads to the same lack of action but ALSO self-loathing.
What helped me quite a bit was studying military history, military strategy, and decisive battles. The stories informed how I overcame paralysis by analysis.
Step one is set deadlines for decisions.
In warfare, you rarely have complete information, and if you wait to push certainty from 75% to 85%, say, that lag time could cause you to lose advantage and opportunity. It's the same in many parts of life.
So I set deadlines. By X point in time, I must make a go or no-go decision, no matter how much or how little information I have. Furthermore, I try and figure out small, short-term, low-risk experiments I can run as "go" decisions, so that I don't perceive action as high-risk.
In short: Set deadlines for decisions (put them in your calendar or they aren't real) and break large intimidating actions/projects into tiny mini-experiments that allow you to overcome fear of failure.
Once you have a little momentum, the paralysis usually disappears on its own.
I never really grasped just how deeply the world hates Jesus and scripture until I began speaking His name and His word in public. Now I see why.
Jesus is the greatest threat to a world built on lies. He exposes what people want buried. He confronts what they want normalized. He calls sinners to repent instead of blessing their sin. Speak His name with clarity and you will meet the same hostility He warned us about.
That hatred does not weaken faith. It confirms His words. It steadies the spine. The world hated Him first. So let them mock. Let them reject. Let them persecute. We know who the King is, and we will keep proclaiming Jesus Christ whether the world applauds or despises us.
Christ is King.
Period.
