@janekleeb Did you check to see if his late mother voted? Might be a good dunk there too!
Is it the Democratic Party of Nebraska’s position that college students should be disenfranchised in their college towns if they didn’t grow up there? Should we repeal the 26th Amendment?
Austin Ahlman: A monopolist meatpacker abandoned my NE hometown leading to my parents’ financial ruin; their house being foreclosed upon precipitated my mother’s suicide. I think we can do better than this as a country.
Nebraska Democratic Party Chair: You haven’t voted here!
More should be written about how Sergey Brin’s penchant for crazy women 2 decades his junior have shaped our modern political life. His most recent ex wife - who got $1B in the divorce - funded RFK’s campaign (which is why she was out on the ticket) & steered woowoo vote to DJT.
Sergey Brin's girlfriend apparently convinced him not to contribute to @MattMahanSJ's gubernatorial campaign because Mahan, in her words, 'has the personality of a wooden spoon.'
Let that sink in.
We've reached a point in American politics where a serious, capable candidate loses donor support not because of his policy positions, his record, or his vision, but because he isn't entertaining enough for someone's taste.
This is the logical endpoint of a social media-addicted, low-attention-span political culture that has confused charisma with competence and performance with leadership.
Here's the thing, though: the actual business of politics is unglamorous. It's negotiation. It's compromise. It's sitting across the table from people you disagree with and finding a path forward. It's decidedly NOT zero-sum, and the politicians who treat it that way are the ones who leave office with nothing to show for it.
Matt Mahan gets this. He's the kind of low-key, humble public servant that California desperately needs right now, someone who shows up to do the work rather than build the brand.
But if we keep letting vibes drive our politics, we'll keep getting exactly the leaders we deserve.

Congratulations to all on this historic liability finding. The DOJ was proud to lead a settlement in this matter that brings the American people instant relief and also applauds the remaining states on today’s liability finding. This is a win for everyone in our country besides Live Nation.
