That’s the issue. Everyone knows the result before a ball is kicked. The financial gaps have killed the jeopardy and the magic.

I remember those proper European nights at Old Trafford – the buzz hours before kick-off, hairs on the back of your neck, coming back against Bayern, nights against Juventus. The whole country stopped. That’s what made this the greatest club competition.
Now it just feels like a formality. Sad, really. The game’s gone.”
