The animal kingdom strongly favors vision: the vast majority of fast-moving species rely on it to navigate the world. Other senses, such as echolocation, are specialized adaptations to very specific environments, not the general solution. From a biomimetic perspective, cameras have the stronger case over LiDAR.

I feel like the future that humanity has been talking about and imagined during the last century has suddenly arrived. We thought we were, but we may actually not be prepared for what is coming.

IMHO, I think South America has one foot in the West and the other one in the Global South. Or said otherwise, they are the Southern branch of the West: clearly based on European civilization, but with modern society structures that diverge quite a lot from what is now Europe (or US, UK, ANZ).
Another important note: South America is definitely not a monolithic culture. From Guatemala to Uruguay, from Bolivia to the Dominican Republic, the way to see the world and identify as a nation (Western or not) is probably extremely different.
If not Bezos, who else can compete with Musk in building a multi-industry empire? Bezos leveraged the internet to create a real-world giant grounded in logistics, not just software and online advertising. He has now diversified through investments in media (Washington Post, MGM), electric vehicles (Rivian), and space (Blue Origin). Earlier this year, he reportedly considered bidding for TikTok. It seems clear he’s willing to follow Elon’s playbook. I don’t think any other Silicon Valley billionaire is that close.

@wideawake_media Excellent thread! As a French citizen, I confirm that this is exactly how I (and many) felt the rise of Macron: coming out of nowhere, supported by everyone in the media landscape, pronouncing sweet words to cameras but in practice just destroying the country the best he can…
@War_Mapper You were doing a fantastic job but you certainly didn’t need to make the Ukraine updates so frequently. Once a month would probably be enough? Looking forward to have you back 🤞
@14kw001@teslaeurope@elonmusk@grok can you explain how the Arc de Triomphe roundabout driving rules are different from the usual roundabouts rules of France ?
Elon Musk on Russia/Ukraine:
"I think there will be a negotiated peace. And the thing that we should be concerned about is we should have empathy for the 1000s of people that are dying every day in trenches for no movement in the lines, so the borders remain the same.
For the past two years, 1000s of people have died every week for nothing, for what and I take great offense at those who put the appearance of goodness over the reality of it. Those who have no solution to stopping 1000s of kids dying every day. They just want that to continue forever. Have contempt for such people. I want to make that clear. Their lack of the solution, means that kids don't have a father, parents lost a son, FOR WHAT? NOTHING!"
