Another day of pushing boundaries. Tried nose breathing at max effort. Sounds crazy I know.
A surprising revelation though...the fear is all in my mind.
Although I do look like a steam machine.
Amateur athletes have limited income. But there are a few ways we can turn that around. Relying on prize money alone or government money? It’s a treadmill you can’t outrun. Instead, think of sponsorships, merch, and even giving fitness classes.
Here are 3 signs you are in a toxic relationship with your coach:
1️⃣ You always want to prove your worth.
2️⃣ You don't trust their program, they don't trust you're doing it right.
3️⃣ You lost sight of what made you happy doing the sport.
Did you know that you can skate on actual snow with speed skates? Here's how:
1. This only works with compacted snow on a flat field
2. Put your weight way back so you don't dive in
3. Never put your blade flat. Use the sides to create more contact points
Rise, Shine, and Refuel! Morning workouts needn't drain you.🌞
1️⃣ Breakfast like a king/queen with slow carbs.
2️⃣ Sugar? Why not, but only during workout!
3️⃣ Protein punch post-workout.
Try it, fatigue won't stand a chance.
As a coach, assessing one's success or impact should not always be simply individual, as it might affect your entire 'herd'. The extra ressources acquired by the performant for minimal gain might be better spent on the rest of the group. What's your take?
There's a thing in farming called the problem of the performant cow. They found out that when there's a cow that performs way more than the rest, it can increase stress and decrease overall herd productivity.
As a creative athlete myself, here's what I struggle with the most:
- Follow a very rigid regiment
- Not having music
- Asking me to be by the book. What book?
- Knowing how many reps I have left. I just guess.
Did authenticity take a backseat to efficiency?
Ponder over it.
Don't dodge the struggle; it's an integral part of the journey. We should strive to preserve humanity in fitness, even in the digital age.
With workouts designed by science and outcomes known in advance, what happened to the grit? The raw element of surprise? The human spirit that just can't be boxed into stats?
