Despite narrowly missing out on becoming her third UK #1 album overall after Spice (1996) and Spiceworld (1997) with the Spice Girls, Sweat debuted at an incredible #3 on the UK Official Albums Chart with 19,483 sales - the highest sales total for a #3 album in the last 35 weeks(!!!).

Sweat also becomes Melanie C’s ninth straight Top 75 solo album, meaning every single one of her studio albums has charted - a level of consistency unmatched by the other Spice Girls combined.

While her biggest opening week remains Reason in 2003 with 30,866 copies sold, Melanie’s iconic debut Northern Star is still her defining commercial success, having now surpassed 900,317 UK units and achieved triple platinum status earlier this year. That makes it the best-selling solo Spice Girl album ever, far ahead of Schizophonic on 490,819 units.

My very first solo single, and it went to No.1 for two weeks! I remember writing it with Richard Stannard like it was yesterday.

We shot the video out in LA, just down the road from where we filmed Say You’ll Be There, and I brought my mum along too. Such special memories, we had so much fun.
