websites feel important again
not because we need more marketing pages
because we need owned spaces
places we control
shape
and build around our own logic
as platforms get noisier
that feels more valuable than ever
stopped posting because i was doing too well to care about it
which is probably the best reason to disappear
but now i miss the part that actually mattered
thinking in public
sharing what iโm learning
building a sharper voice
so iโm back here
not to perform
just to document the useful stuff
@designertom i need more of that as well!

you may find something good in my Drinking Water bookmarks:

that is the real challenge for ai
ai improves fastest when feedback is clear
in code you can measure better
or worse
in design the feedback is slower
subjective
and often contradictory
so ai can generate many plausible ideas
but turning them into one coherent design
is much harder
a thought that gave me relief about ai and design
design is never perfectly right
in code you can often point to
performance latency
bandwidth or a failed test
in design the signal is messier
perception is biased
context changes everything
access needs change everything
good design is not just what works
it is what fails least for the most people
exploring a Bee Electric campaign
modern ads try to say everything...
old automotive ads said one thing
and made it feel inevitable
exploring that simplicity
does it land?
as building gets cheaper
the differentiator is shifting from just having ideas
to having taste
- clear thinking
- good judgment
- strong design instincts
thatโs what iโm trying to document now
not just workflows
but how i make decisions
what i optimize for
what i refuse to compromise on
the goal is simple
build a small army of agents
that can help me execute
without losing quality
or the philosophy behind the work
curious if youโre doing something similar
how are you getting your agents
on the same page as you?
watching dribbble lose its taste is weirdly sad
i wanted an invite so badly back then
it felt like the place for design
now i hear from dribbble and itโs low effort selling
and itโs a bummer
grateful for what it was
sad about what it is...
iโve been inconsistent on x
now my posts feel like they hit an empty room
so iโm deciding what to do with it
go all-in or leave and stop bleeding attention

need your gut reaction
weโre launching a crowdfunding for Bee Electric
and the supporter box can go 2 ways
1. brown cardboard - feels more human
like we packed it ourselves
2. black coated - feels more premium
like youโre opening something special
what feels right to you?
i try to keep interfaces calm
then i add one crafted detail in a low pressure spot
like the footer
it doesn't compete with the content
it just raises the perceived quality
