@tsarnick He's doing such a great job of triggering all of us who work in and for "heritage" cinema. Thank you so much for reminding me why it is folks like us and not you who've found their life's passion in researching film archives :-😀
Just finished a proof of @josephinequinn 's spectacular new book, and am completely blown away by its breadth, brilliance and ambition. How the World Made the West is one of the most fascinating works of global history to appear for many years. Incredibly wide-ranging, it connects disparate parts of the ancient world with dazzling shafts of insight and intuition, held together by vast scholarship, elegant prose and an enviable lightness of touch. It is not just revelatory, it is also hugely important, completely reframing our conception of the Western classical world as something whose influences and inspirations stretch far beyond 'Mare Nostrum', allowing us to understand just how globalised and interconnected mankind has always been.
I can't wait to hear Josephine speak about her masterwork @JaipurLitFest in three weeks time

Just finished the proof of a superbly well researched, tightly constructed and beautifully written exploration of an almost forgotten chapter in the history of the Second World War. The Great Flap of 1942: How the Raj panicked over a Japanese non-invasion, is a brilliant recreation of a particular time and place, effortlessly pinned to the page in stylish, witty and evocative prose. @muk22 Mukund Padmanabhan, long regarded as one of India's most admired journalists and editors, has now emerged from that chrysalis to reveal himself as a new superstar of Indian narrative non-fiction.
@mubiuk Do you have a customer care/tech support number for UK subscribers? I've just found out that you've been charging me for months without my having signed up for anything! There's no email or contact no. on your website. Can you please help?
So glad to have met @EhsanKhoshbakht last night at the screening of his deeply personal, moving, and utterly heartbreaking doc #CelluloidUnderground at the beautiful Metro Kino in Vienna. You are an inspiration to everyone who loves and finds meaning in cinema! #Viennale2023
‘Multiculturalism has failed’ says Suella Braverman who is from Kenyan and Mauritian background and married to a Jew, serving as Home Secretary in a govt led by someone whose family came from India.
Wonder what multicultural success looks like…..
What would happen if migrants on boats with limited resources were also seen as brave explorers gifted with curiosity and wonder for depths unknown, I wonder.
Photos from my performance @TheNehruCentre. It was such a pleasure to perform to a full house. Many thanks to everyone who attended. Thank you for letting me share this ancient Indian dance tradition with you.

@mubi Watched it at the preview screening at @CurzonSoho last week. Loved the performances, but the film didn't work for me on the whole. I was also reminded of The Worst Person in the World. Others might think differently, of course!
The tragedy of Hyderabad : some of the most magnificent built heritage in India, if not the world, and a Philistine government that doesn't understand how such heritage can both beautify the city and bring in crores upon crores of tourist dollars. Someone should send the Chief Minister and his cabinet to Italy to see how well maintained heritage can enrich a country.
