💙 HER IMPACT — More Than a Character
Some actresses make you notice the performance. Others make you forget you're watching one.
That is what I appreciate about Sun Qian.
Through Flora/Shang Zhitao in The Early Spring, she brought us a woman who feels imperfect, ambitious, vulnerable, stubborn, hopeful—and deeply human. Her strength wasn't created through grand speeches or dramatic moments alone. So much of it lived in the quieter details: an expression, a hesitation, a moment of disappointment, or the determination to continue when things didn't go as planned.
But HER IMPACT is about more than one character.
It's about an actress whose presence can be gentle without disappearing, whose simplicity can still command attention, and whose performance reminds us that authenticity can be powerful.
More Than a Character.
Depth. Warmth. Authenticity. Quiet strength.
And through Flora's journey, another message remains:
Challenges don't always stop us. Sometimes they become the very place where growth begins.
Sun Qian gave Flora a face and a voice—but more importantly, she gave her a humanity that made so many of us see a little of ourselves in her.
Maybe that's the real impact of a beautiful performance:
You remember the character.
You feel the story.
And you begin to notice the woman who brought it all to life. 💙

“Fall in love with yourself first and have a strong sense of deserving.” - Sun Qian
Indeed, queen. 👑✨
Aww Sun Qian, you’re too precious for this world 🥹
SUN QIAN WAS NEVER THE CONTROVERSY. SHE WAS DOING HER JOB — AND SHE DID IT BEAUTIFULLY. 🤍
In the middle of all the online conversations surrounding Jing Boran, Liu Wen, The Early Spring, and the Luke–Flora pairing, I think something important is getting lost:
Sun Qian is not part of anyone's real-life love triangle.
She is an actress who gave us Shang Zhitao — Flora — with enough honesty, vulnerability, strength, and emotional depth that millions of viewers believed in her story.
And maybe that is the greatest compliment to her performance.
When audiences become so emotionally invested that they have difficulty separating Luke from Jing Boran or Flora from Sun Qian, it tells us just how convincing these actors were.
But Sun Qian should never have to carry the weight of speculation about another person's private relationship.
She doesn't need to be compared with Liu Wen.
She doesn't need Jing Boran to validate her success.
And Liu Wen doesn't need to be diminished for Sun Qian to be celebrated.
There is room to respect all three people while still giving Sun Qian the recognition she earned.
What deserves our attention is what Sun Qian actually accomplished.
She took Shang Zhitao from a young woman trying to survive an intimidating workplace into someone increasingly confident in her own voice, choices, career, and identity.
Netflix itself highlighted Sun Qian's natural screen presence and nuanced performance, while the director praised the distinctive chemistry and emotional rhythm she created with Jing Boran.
That chemistry wasn't evidence of a secret romance.
It was evidence of good acting.
And The Early Spring became an international success. People from different countries and cultures connected with Flora's struggles, her ambition, her heartbreak, her courage, and her growth.
Sun Qian helped make that happen.
So while the internet debates relationships, airport appearances, likes, rumors, and who belongs with whom, I'd rather keep talking about the woman at the center of the fictional story:
Sun Qian — the actress who gave Flora a heart.
She doesn't need controversy to stay relevant.
She already has something far more valuable:
A performance people cannot stop talking about. 🌸
And perhaps that's the story worth remembering.

Sun Qian was featured in Daniel Wellington’s DW Lookbook as Shang Zhi Tao from The Early Spring, highlighting her character’s workwear looks paired with the ART DECO-inspired “Bound” square watch. ⌚
“(…) Sun Qian, you’re absolutely the most stylish woman in Beijing!”
“(…) From being a newcomer in the workplace to gradually becoming independent and capable, Sun Qian perfectly captures the evolution of Shang Zhi Tao’s workwear looks.”
