#therapist: it sounds like you are very critical of yourself, and dont give yourself enough credit
Me: yeah haha I really suck at that
T: yeah...see.... that's what i mea..okay let's start over
😐 #phdlife
@katiieproctor@TummiFodmap GF pancakes saved my life.. i make a huge batch on Sunday and freeze for the week. I use the king arthur regular (non-GF) recipe with their GF flour. And oat milk instead of regular. Easy calories since the fodmap diet has basically cut my daily intake in half
@lara_psych@dessielclark Yess! Like yes, we will "develop autism" as adults. My mom has asked multiple times if my recent ibs/celiac diagnoses are because of my flu shot last year...
@science_ari Yes. I take dramamine (non drowsy!) for relief. It's not perfect but it's some relief of nausea. I also swear by gamer glasses/blue light filtering glasses. Alternatively, there are apps that help to filter the light.
(4/4)
48 hours later I emerge, hungry, thirsty, having to pee:
"Heyy, wow this came out pretty good!"
I have learned nothing from this experience and my future behavior will not be affected.

Hobby-ing with #ADHD (1/?):
•gonna use the sewing machine I bought when my meds kicked in but never opened
•gotta learn to sew!!!
•2 pages instructions, dopamine not included
•Youtubeeeee
(3/?)
3 min later:
•this chair is hard
•gonna make a seat cushion instead
•*pinterests for 3 hours*
•okay I should measure?
•*doesnt measure a single fucking thing*
•how do I add a zipper?
•Google: there are 127 ways to add a zipper
•*doesnt follow any of them"
@PixScienceCo Weight gain
Acne so painful I'd get a shooting pain w. each facial expression
Bleed thru heavy tampon in <2hrs
But the worst...
It made me depressed af and after I came off of it (after 8yrs) and realized i wasnt actually "crazy," it was like I had to figure out who I really was
Our dept be like:

@synaptikate@AcademicChatter Is there a way they can work together to build a sort of guide, like how to do things, what things mean, etc. for future undergrads in the lab? We did that and they enjoyed putting it together (and said they learned a lot) and it is a really valuable resource now.
Graduating this summer, and have REALLY been struggling with knowing my therapy sessions (thru university services) will end
Now they've been moved to phone sessions
I know ppl have real problems out there re: the virus...but this is still really hard for me to be okay with 😞
Me: I have so much to do. And it's already february omg
Psychiatrist: but, it's.... it's march?
Me:

@danidonovan One misconception is focus in general. If I say I have trouble focusing, its "well what about when you did X project/hobby for like 15 hours and forgot to eat?? You can focus then!"
Like yes and do you not see how that is also highly problematic? lol
If I had to pick just two main aspects that I wish I would have gotten help with as a child with ADHD, it would be self motivation and emotional management.
Its certainly what has helped me most as an adult; learning to figure out what I wanna do and learn to deal with failure.
@caffeinatedkrys Not to mention, i imagine it just feels shitty to watch a school build a massive new stadium, but like, cant make an accessible ramp/bench/hood. Sorry for the rant, I'm sure this doesnt even cover the 1% of some of the bs wheel chair users experience.
@caffeinatedkrys And B. Do the same work/learn the same techniques. I'm so upset for her and I don't even know her name. What if she wants to be a chemist? She cant get genuine lab experience. Putting her at a greater disadvantage for grad school/employment/whatever.
