Super excited about my first, first-author being published the day after my defense! 🥳🥂✨
Keep an eye out for the second half of my PhD research, we're hard at work getting it wrapped up for submission 🙂
Congrats to @UMichCMB PhD student @synaptikate for her first author paper with @3268_AMP from @UMPhysiology published in @PLOSGenetics showing loss of FIC-1 dependent ampylation slows disease in a C.elegans model of polyglutamine toxicity https://t.co/kleyaBrQLd
A timely reminder that @DSHB_antibodies exists: a non-profit selling validated antibodies at $50/mL of supernatant. Our validation images show what's actually on the blot. No sleuths required. https://t.co/WfeQ2Pn32I #AntibodiesForResearch
@kunalt12345@koeng101 yes, b/c the people doing it will do it stupidly w/ little to no appreciation for the complexities of biology as a field
every day i read posts from CS/AI guys shocked that their background is irrelevant & they need to actually understand bio to produce useful insights
Here at [famous scientist’s name].ai, we’re developing tools to accelerate science. Unlike academia, which has stifled the production of high quality scientific work by demanding it be correct, here at [fsn].ai, we know that you can just do (wrong) things.
Never in my entire life have I actually sent an email at 8:00 AM. If you receive an email from me at 8:00 AM you can rest absolutely assured that I schedule sent that mess at like 1:27 in the morning.
Bio: "I don't want to over-hype this too much but our work might possibly someday contribute to improving the standard of care for a subset of lymphoma patients"
Tech: "AI will cure all diseases very soon"
@TzinAt1521ce@mtlushan i love how the original tweet is getting reposted on my TL as being insightful when this is like, one of the most moronic & completely predictable takes i’ve ever seen from another “i know a lot about AI/ML, one of the REAL sciences, why would i need to know biology?” dudes
very cool how the current administration’s policies on science/research funding have made my job search as a fresh PhD incredibly stressful, & now, as a result of the shutdown, I get to cross my fingers & hope my cross-country flight for a job interview doesn’t get cancelled!!!
