“This includes extended patrols & safety measures on the days that drowning risk increases, but also consistent ongoing education & water safety awareness campaigns."
2/3 - The Australia Day and New Year’s Day public holidays accounted for almost 5% of drownings over the 12yrs to June 2022, the research published in @anzjph shows.
Drownings were more than 4x higher on public holidays and were also more common on weekends & school holidays.
