Moving from therapy work/ private practice... can I ask any fellow therapists who have left this work what paths they have found themselves on, particularly salaried careers, not self-employed. I’m moving home to Ireland & trying to explore what options I have...1/2
@JGTherapyTweets I'm headed back for Dublin in a few months and the opportunities are quite different there in the public health system but your suggestion re social services is really a good one and I will do some digging. Thank you :)
@JGTherapyTweets Hey thanks, Jordan. OT seems like a really great and rewarding career but I'm just not in a position to fully retrain in something else, unfortunately!
Paid employment as a counsellor in Ireland is almost non-existent. Have you been able to transfer your skills into other fulfilling careers? Or within mental health. Would love to hear from anyone who has made this transition 2/2 #therapywork#therapyjobs#mentalheathireland
GREAT to see a new initiative to provide mental health support but to see it offered by volunteers instead of paid professionals is disheartening. Why is there no proper funding for this? Are there similar services for discussing physical issues run by volunteers?Genuine question
50808 is a free text service, providing everything from a calming chat to immediate support for people going through a mental health or emotional crisis. Crisis Volunteers are available 24/7 for anonymous, supportive text conversations. Text TALK to 50808 to begin. #Text50808
Black Minds Matter are providing FREE therapy sessions for Black people in the UK with Black therapists.
Please pass this along. These are difficult days for many of us >

Completely agree. It’s a fairly meaningless document full of ‘ideas’ and suggestions in the absence of agreed funding. What resources are needed, how are we paying for them and when will it happen? that’s what we need to know!
Is there no funding with the new Vision for Change document? Not sure talk of flowcharts and centralised phone number will radically change mental health system if adequate funding isnt behind it. Especially in context of hiring shortages in certain roles. #SharingTheVision
@CognitiveTherap Apparently the publication has now been pushed back to the 17th June... I'm very curious to see the plan for online services and how much support there is in the revised VfC doc!
@ireland Room for counsellors and psychotherapists to be properly embedded in CMHTs, a move away from the medicalisation of mental health and government/ political investment and buy in.

@11Symph The point about seeing savings in the long run is so important and usually totally overlooked in favour of knee jerk and/ or politically motivated actions. Let’s hope long term benefits are held in mind as this is developed
