yeah pro players will literally play the worst formats imaginable and love them because they become a challenge. pro players have a mentality to face challenges which is required to get good at a game in the first place. everybody else wants to play so they can have fun
Which leads me to Thirdly: I think that "Pro Players" are probably the least important people to cater to on banlists.
If you're skilled enough to find enjoyment in deckbuilding & metagame evaluation, to adapt, what do you care if the game's ass to play?

@forgaybabyjail@ThisJitCracks yeah they responded to numbers but at the same time it feels like the banlist was mostly designed to satiate a specific audience of people who moan the loudest about the game. i actually like the banlist but i also think half of it was based on Josha Schmidt’s videos lmfao
a huge mess of thoughts in this thread but i kinda agree with this point and some others. i do think the yugioh community online is a part of the problem as a lot of ppl who don’t even play the game have extremely strong opinions. Also that world stat ruined a lot. HOWEVER
(15/?) Then after the list comes out all important things are missing are all over twitter and YouTube saying things are missing and Konami is out of touch 😭. It’s CRAZY!!!!! They’re not outta touch they’re in touch with the wrong crowd
@lilypadlame_o mainly to that population. the person who makes it to day 2 without topping or wants to win a whole regional instead of just topping is probably the person who feels the most they need coaching, not the person who struggles to get a regional invite.
@lilypadlame_o and what about the people who’ve never topped a ycs but can top a regional? and people who make it to day 2 consistently but don’t top? like they have to realize there’s different levels across the entire population and it’s crazy to dog on them when they are selling products
@lilypadlame_o this is probably the majority of people who go to a ycs and to regionals and participate in nats, why would you ever cater to 40 good players over these 2000+ players. the in betweeners are the lifeblood of this game
@lilypadlame_o i’m also in the middle, i took yugioh very seriously in 2024 and did well but after having really unstable employment since the start of 2025, i’ve been entirely on and off and at that point fun becomes a more important factor than even before when i could focus on the challenge
@_Tu_Bates_Bem_ yes i’m saying that as a compliment and i think Konami should focus on making the game fun for the whole competitive base instead of just what the top players say
@redman2408 no i thought about it a lot the other day when they posted combos and i understand that toon terror and mind scan being like 2 negates on the opponent’s turn with mind scan blanking a hand trap on your turn means you’re basically hand looping your opponent
@redman2408 maybe unless i make this maliss toon combo work, remember the maliss dark magical curtain bridge i told you about? toon can do the same shit. rank 4 might be cleaner tho lol
@redman2408 yeah i agree with that i actually have come to hate that they pre hit toon so hard when they already banned all of the good links it would make just because of people doom posting. toon is gonna be so boring in the TCG
targeting this exact aspect is good but what’s also funny is how the most skill oriented deck with the least deckbuilding variance was Kewl Tune and that’s the only one that got shot by that paris list
In short, I didn't think that format - or the FOLLOWING format - weren't SKILLFUL. You saw mostly the same names collecting at top tables.
It was just that DURING that period, the "skill" that mattered a lot more was metagame evaluation and deckbuilding.
This is a very revealing thread. I'd like to take some time to talk about this PERSPECTIVE (before it becomes Pros vs. Tubers).
Firstly, and most importantly - someone has to teach Jib how to post a thread instead of replying to the OP 25 times. My Twitter metafy is open.
