It's taken my whole life to for my eyes to be opened and healed to see that it's the Kingdom of God invading the kingdoms of this world inaugurated by the life, work, and ministry of Jesus that simply, fully, and wholly is "The Good News."
Why Read The Bible In Hebrew?
Let's talk about Rahab in the Book of Joshua.
How does a Canaanite harlot end up as the hero of the Israelites’ journey into the Promised Land?
A thread (for non-Hebrew readers too!) 🧵1
Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made;
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.
This from the main stage at tonight’s Trump rally in Madison Square Garden is one of the most disgusting and despicable things I’ve ever heard uttered at a modern American political rally—much less at a nationally televised official party gathering for a presidential candidate on the eve of an election.
This is a disgrace to our country and the Republican Party. For featured remarks in this type of moment, the Trump-Vance campaign would have read these remarks and would’ve known exactly what was going to be said—and they let him say this nastiness anyway. And none of the speakers after him apologized or corrected the record or pushed back on his remarks.
It isn’t Christian. It isn’t American. It isn’t decent. It’s ugly and racist. Period. The Republican Party today is completely unrecognizable and a totally different party than the one I joined in college. It has completely abandoned any values of classiness and decency and respect that it once had.
We are about to have a baby daughter and I can’t imagine her listening to this filth and then having to explain to her that one of our major political parties in this country and its voters actually support this rhetoric.
Shame on the Trump team for letting this happen and shame on every single Republican in that room and around the country who doesn’t condemn it. Because if you don’t condemn stuff like this and you’re on this team, it’s reasonable for every other decent person in this country to assume you’re sitting at home clapping along, too. I just can’t even believe it. A disgraceful and lasting shame on the United States.
@KaitlynSchiess Also, this sermon series by Rev. Dr. Steve DeNeff from 9 years ago was (and is) very formative for me politically:

@KaitlynSchiess This wasn't a sermon, but it was such a helpful church teaching by Dr. Tim Mackie of the BibleProject that I've likely watched it at least 5 times over the last 5 years and shared it with more friends than I can recall.
