PondPhuwin have been together for 5 years and for all of these 5 years they've been disrespected left and right, from other fandoms and the company itself. With our fandom growing and people outside fandom spaces talking well about them and hyping the show and their acting we finally have a big strong base that can handle enormous trending and virality.
Every day, EVERY DAY, I read posts about how we're buying bots, how it's only trending because of the other fandoms involved, that nobody watches it for PondPhuwin. Since day one of the pilot dropping it was nothing but "god, now I have to watch a PPW show for my faves" and "our couple will outshine PPW anyway."
Here's the thing:
Nobody is saying that it's only Narawins trending, it's us, PS fans, Westies, non-fandom people, actors from in and outside the company, even brands and other celebrities. However the reason the show is trending is because it's good. Because of PondPhuwins acting and chemistry, because it's funny and heartfelt and brilliant. Not because of anything else. Not because of side couples and other fandoms.
We are not going to sit idly by while the hard work they did to get there is being diminished to "well it's cause there's many fandoms trending". Trending is only a part of the success and no matter how you twist and turn it - it's still mostly for and because of PondPhuwin.
I don't accept disrespecting the rest of the cast, cause it's all pieces of this beautiful sparkly puzzle, they all contribute even if in smaller ways.
However where I will be pissed and will be defensive is when people pretend like PPW and fandom are only a small piece of that puzzle. They arent. There would be no show if it wasn't for them. It's disrespectful as hell.
And no it's not only trolls or fake accounts. It's also big accounts with thousands of followers whose posts receive hundreds if not thousands of likes and retweets.
How would you feel if people said your faves show only was successful because of other fandoms? How would you feel?
