Having spoken with many people after the Tamilnadu elections, I noticed few things that were common among most of them:

1. Ideological conviction is not a primary expectation. People view Hindutva and Hindi imposition as distant threats that have not yet directly affected their daily lives. I can understand this. Unlike in Bengaluru or Mumbai, you can walk into any random shop in Chennai and get service in Tamil. The same applies to religious conflicts, almost no one in Tamil Nadu has experienced their fatal consequences firsthand.

2. Many decided to vote for the actor out of admiration and later justified their choice by finding supporting reasons.

3. Many don't have patience or curiosity to read, analyse, research about any topic.

I have talked to around 20-30 people in my office and in my locality and also to Auto and Cab drivers and why they voted for TVK.

Their reasons are ridiculous, careless, selfish, ignorant, pointless, insane.

Most said “for fun”, “because my daughter (13 year old) told so”, “Vijay should become CM”, “edho different ah irukatum nu vote panom”, “therila chumma potom”… seriously?

People who benefit from Govt vote for same Govt.
People who are wronged from Govt vote for diff Govt.

But there are a group of people whose lives don’t change on surface levels no matter what political party wins and comes to ruling. They have that privilege from life and lack of political awareness, irrespective of their financial status like lower middle class or upper middle class or even the affluent ones. These are the people who vote for fun, for convenience, for irresponsible reasons.

Dr. @dr_sivaranjani painstakingly fought for 8 years to convince the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to heed the harms of fake ORS drinks targeting children, flooding the market from greedy corporate companies.

She won. FSSAI ordered the ban on the use of “ORS” in product names except for WHO-approved formulations - which meant that these companies fake mislabelled products could not be sold.

But then, she lost.

In a new twist of events, the Delhi High Court and FSSAI has now ordered that fake ORS products, especially the worst and the most stocked one - ORSL Drink by JNTL Consumer Health (the name for the Indian consumer health subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, which is now known as Kenvue) can continue to be sold temporarily under the High Court’s interim protection.

The Court and FSSAI has essentially allowed the sale of fake mislabelled products worth 180 crore Indian Rupees to protect the interest of the greedy corporations without any concern for the children's health.

As a citizen of this country, you can help the good doctor and her great deed by BOYCOTTING THESE SUBSTANDARD PRODUCTS - LET THESE PRODUCTS ROT ON THE SHELVES. The public is the most powerful entity of a Nation. Let us be one and take care of ourselves and our children.

Do not buy these SUGARY products with zero health benefits and do not follow WHO Standards- and spread the word please! Share maximum!

First off - The subject here is T M Krishna. Not Periyar.

Periyar isn't getting the Sangita Kalanidhi.
T M Krishna is.

Periyar cannot be awarded the Kalanidhi since he hasn't contributed to the music industry. Also, the man is not physically alive;

TMK hasn't called for a genocide neither has he called women, prostitutes.

A specific personal dislike of T M Krishna's belief systems cannot be the basis to argue that he doesn't deserve the Sangita Kalanidhi.

However, if character / personal ideology is a precondition to perform Carnatic Music or to receive an award - multiple musicians with abhorrent personal ethics, morals, are/have been extraordinary misogynists, child sex offenders - I am sure as Lady Carnatic musicians, you are well aware how the system speaks of women, the misogyny Female Vidushis have faced - ill-treating of Pakka Vadyam Vidwans, alcohol abuse, womanizers, child sex offenders, ruining Sishyas' careers because the Guru is envious; subcaste specific cuss words and chastising the other's art based on those identities - They have continued with much celebrity in the same circles.

As for MS Amma, she herself was banned from performing when she took a stand to perform Tamil compositions - because the community then would not accept the singing of non-telugu compositions in Carnatic Music.

You both sing Abhangas - Sant Tukaram, and many other poets have actively used Abhangs as a means to question social injustice, casteism and oppression. Most brahmins if not all, have opposed Sant Tukaram, who has just vanished. Nobody knows for sure, how he died.

In addition - C Rajagopalachari and Periyar were personal friends but political foes - Rajaji would have definitely condemned on record, if Periyar had said any of what you claim he did.

MS Amma wouldn't have sung Rajaji's compositions either, if Periyar had said what you say he has, and Rajaji didnt condemn.
