Nawab Syud Mohammed Azad (1850-1916) of Dhaka. Apart from being a wealthy nobleman hailing from a highly prominent family of Old Dhaka, now in Bangladesh, he was also a writer and poet who contributed to the early development of Urdu literature and novels in the subcontinent.
bengal's indigenous brickwork and terracotta architecture is sooo beautiful. im in love with the interior details of the nine domed mosque in bagerhat, bangladesh, it was built in the 15th century under reign of the bengal sultanate.
holy smokes what did i just wake up to..
They're so pressed over such an objective harmless truth! Like who does this even offend? the dead brahmins? The dead language?
They're mad at a chittagonian mleccha-descent muslim saying Sanksrit is not his mother-tongue? heh!? 😭

Why do we allow the pretense that Bangla descends from Sanskrit? Because it doesn't. In fact, Brahmans' (Sanksrit patrons') early interaction w Bangla and Bengalis would make you puke at the insinuation.
Sansksrit is as foreign to Bangla as is Farsi and Hindustani.
So-called standard Bengali (AKA the Sanskritised Bengali) is so lame.
The meaning of "I miss you" there is "আমি তোমায় মিস করি" 🥀
Meanwhile, we Tangailas say, "তোমার নিগা আমার পরাণ পুড়ে" or "তোমার লাগি মোর পরাণ পুড়ে," which directly translates to "My heart burns for you."
i cannot trust people that write jalebi instead of Jilapi. Recently in our society, jalebi has been promoted as a status symbol, it is the fakest thing where you put gold wrap around whereas Jilapi is rural and available for everyone irrespective of religion class social standing

Zohran Mamdani is Bangladeshi-American by Karma.
People overestimate the South Asian influence of his diluted Khoja/Punjabi upbringing and underestimate the Bangladeshi influence of his NYC Bronx Science high school years that predominantly shapes his interpretation of “desi.”
@rajatsaha_ Islamic Bengal was so dependent on Bengali as its official language that even after the Mughals took over Bengal from the Sultanate, they continued using Bengali in their court documents:
"If your pride leads you to boast, you will be doubly guilty, because your intelligence will have shown
that it is incapable of controlling your pride."
