Founded in 1978, the Association of Private Colleges represents 13 fully accredited, degree-granting institutions committed to higher education programs.
The NYS budget has finally been approved, and once again, APC is grateful to @GovKathyHochul, Higher Education Chairs Senator @tobystavisky & Assemblymember @AliciaHyndman, and all of our legislative champions for including critical funding to help break down financial barriers so more New Yorkers can pursue the postsecondary pathway that best supports their goals.
Looking ahead, we will continue to advocate for the restoration of Graduate TAP and the adoption of the NY Rise loan program to further the assistance available to our students.

There are many unique stories when it comes to how students are paying for college. No two stories are the same, but often times there is a common goal, to graduate college debt-free. Hear how these 2 students went about finding financial aid to go to college

By working together, we can help make higher education more accessible and affordable for all New Yorkers!

Big dreams deserve real opportunities!
Financial Aid Awareness Month is here—and with @GovKathyHochul's focus on expanding access to higher education, more students across New York are turning “maybe someday” into “I’m ready.”

Many students who attend one of APC's member institutions bring diverse perspectives and backgrounds to our campuses. Regardless of where you come from or where you're headed, state-funded financial aid can be an essential part of the journey.
Myah from @MonroeUniv shares some of her story below!

Mia is one of the @MonroeUniv students who joined us in Albany for APC's Student Leadership Council lobby day back in February!
Supporting TAP and measures that make higher education more accessible and affordable are essential to helping students like Mia succeed.

As costs continue to rise, state financial aid must keep pace so students can stay enrolled, complete their degrees, and help meet New York’s workforce needs. Investing in TAP is investing in New York’s future. 🎓
In this year's budget, we are asking lawmakers to:
✨Adopt the New York Reinvests in Student Educational Supports (NY RISE) program
✨Restore state support for Graduate TAP
✨Expand access to the Opportunity Promise Scholarships
✨Expand TAP eligibility to support student success
✨Support low-income independent students
TAP helps millions of New Yorkers to follow their dreams!
Thanks to the continued support from @GovKathyHochul and the Higher Education Committee Chairs, Senator @tobystavisky and Assemblymember @AliciaHyndman, students like Keryma from @BerkeleyCollege can afford to attend the institution of their choice.

Providing students with support, regardless of where they attend school or where they are in their higher education journey, is essential. Philip from @MonroeUniv has experienced the relief that New York-funded TAP can provide to a student juggling other responsibilities while pursuing their degree.
In this year's budget, we're looking to further enhance access and affordability of higher education for New Yorkers by:
➡️Restoring state support for Graduate TAP
➡️Expanding access to the Opportunity Promise Scholarships
➡️Expanding TAP eligibility to support student success
➡️Supporting low-income independent students

NYS TAP has helped Silverio, a student at @BerkeleyCollege, pursue higher education while working full-time to support himself as he lives on his own. 🧑🎓
To help ensure students, like Silverio, have the financial support needed to attend college, APC is also encouraging the Senate and Assembly to address forthcoming changes to the federal student loan program by adopting the New York Reinvests in Student Educational Supports (NY RISE) program in this year's budget.
Learn more about Silverio in the video below. 📽️
Student voices matter. Berkeley College students were in Albany for APC Advocacy Day, meeting with policymakers and advocating for students across New York with @apccolleges.
Thank you to @BerkeleyCollege student, Veronica, for joining us in Albany to advocate for APC's priorities this year! ✨
By meeting with legislators and staff to tell her story, Veronica helped spread the word about how support for expanding and reimagining TAP is essential to making college more accessible for students across New York State.
Carlos is one of the @MonroeUniv students who joined us in Albany for this year's student lobby day! 🎓
The state's Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) has made it easier for Carlos to focus on his studies and his goal of becoming an elementary school teacher after graduation, rather than on the costs of attending college.
Thank you to @GovKathyHochul and members of the legislature for investing in our students!

The Senate and Assembly One-House Budgets were passed this week, and we were pleased to see that several measures outlined in the proposals support APC's priorities for 2026.
As always, we are grateful to our Higher Education Committee Chairs Senator @tobystavisky and Assemblymember @AliciaHyndman for championing investments that will significantly improve the state’s Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). We look forward to working together to advance a final budget that makes higher education more accessible and affordable for students across New York State.

We are missing some of our student leaders and staff during this week's legislative events in Albany, but happy to have @BerkeleyCollege and @MonroeUniv join us to advocate on behalf of past, present and future APC students!
Last night we held our annual Legislative Reception and Boot Camp where students:
🌟Prepared for today's meetings with legislators and staff
🎬Filmed videos talking about their higher education journey & importance of TAP
🧑🎓Met with their peers from other schools
A special thank you to Senator @JSandersNYC for stopping by last night to chat with our students. We appreciate your support! 👏
