There’s a case to be made that Tony Head’s work on Buffy is what makes Buffy work. It’s a show built on big fun and big emotion, but none of that holds together without Head rattling off the most insane gibberish you’ve ever heard in way that’s not only legible but engaging. RIP
The U.S. has killed more than 200 people in over 60 strikes on boats in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific, claiming without evidence that the boats were engaged in narcotrafficking. Amanda Klasing (@AMKlasing) of @amnestyusa says these are extrajudicial killings that constitute murder. “U.S. taxpayers should be outraged, absolutely outraged, that their money is going to murder as a policy,” says Klasing.
@zaaaarbi I recently saw someone say something disparaging about Shivers in the sense of "he improved so much after that film!" and I felt a paternal twinge like someone had insulted my kid. Love that movie. Glad to see it in your top 5.
@Sasha_Screens The way the mystery of the incomplete memory is structured in Supremacy, where the point becomes not "Who do I need to kill?" but "What do I need to try to repair?" is one of my favorite arcs in any action film.
Connecting young people to digital networks serves no purpose if they remain disconnected from themselves, others, and their own interiority. We must help young people rediscover silence, reflection, the ability to ask questions, the depth of relationships, and openness to transcendence. To listen to the soul, we must lend an ear, because the soul's voice is not a shout, but a whisper.
However, when we discover that our life has value, that we are loved, awaited, and called to carry out a task in the world, then hope is born. This spiritual force sustains life, even in the most difficult moments.
Deep inner suffering inevitably arises when the human person is reduced to performance, consumption, or a statistical datum. Many young people today live under the yoke of expectations to perform, immersed in an exasperated competitiveness that generates anxiety, fear of not measuring up, and disorientation.
