Please join me in raising a glass in honor of Judge Clifton Newman.
Does anyone disagree that he sets the gold standard for how a judge conducts a trial?
He is 72 this year and subject to mandatory retirement. This may be his last time on the big stage, but I'm hopeful the chief justice will ask him to continue to serve, and he will agree.
I also hope those who think we need to change how we elect judges in SC will pause and look at Judge Newman as a shining example -
Our judicial system is not perfect, but the last weeks have proven that our state, which often ranks near last in many categories,has a judge and judicial system that is at the top.#Murdaugh #murdaughtrial
