22 January.
This day last year: stage three kidney cancer.
One hell of a year later — I’m still here.
Good days. Bad days.
But my God, I’m glad to be here.
Seize the day.
Here’s to the future
At the absolutely packed South Dublin South Leinster SNA branch AGM here in Dublin this morning. Fired up and ready to go for the year ahead. #JoinAUnion
Robert Jenrick says “unions run our public services.”
We certainly keep them running. Paramedics, social workers, nurses, hospital porters, care workers, librarians, cleaners, housing officers.
Without UNISON members our public services would collapse overnight.
Gerry carried out work of real significance against organised fascists over many years at much risk and cost to himself. I always admired him greatly, he will be missed.
It is with the greatest sadness that we have to announce that Searchlight’s founder, Gerry Gable, has died at the age of 88. He had been in frail health for some time, but a recent hospital admission proved too much and he died peacefully last night.
Gerry was one of the most important figures in post war anti-fascism, not just in this country but also internationally.

Further strike action “cannot be ruled out” as pensions issue referred to Labour Court.
School secretaries and caretakers have shown extraordinary patience. Their determination to secure a just and long-overdue resolution remains unwavering #PensionParity
🚨Talks on school secretary and caretaker pensions break down at WRC.
This follows the Department of Education’s failure to engage meaningfully with union proposals on a range of pension issues, including the recognition of prior service #PensionParity

Today the Government launched its new Action Plan on Collective Bargaining.
We know that collective bargaining means better jobs and higher pay, so we welcome the plan as the start of a new process to promote collective bargaining.

Some of the judgement mortgages secured against borrowers of Cootehill Credit Union when @HeatherH was manager.
Did it repossess homes when borrowers couldn't repay loans?
Cootehill Credit Union secured judgement mortgages against borrowers in the High Court while @HeatherH was the manager between 1999 and 2011.
Should she now be asked whether the credit union ever moved to repossess homes under her management?
