Anthropic says Claude agents discovered a previously uncharacterized biological system with CRISPR-like repeat arrays.

The AI searched:

🔬 200,000+ reverse transcriptases
🧠 3,500 candidate systems
🎯 20 strongest candidates

The analysis took about 21 hours using roughly 950 agents.

Anthropic researchers then started laboratory experiments to determine what the newly identified ART system actually does.
