Wall Street in the 80's and early 90s ran on a pagan belief system centered around conquest, glory, might and beauty. Private jets, hostile takeovers, cocaine and martini fueled lunches at strip clubs. The testosterone infused culture. The exhaustion of the hunt, the triumph of the kill, and the splendor of the feast. It was extravagant but punk rock at heart. Living through it at all, was a rite of passage.
Today, Wall Street is inhabited by a bunch of soon-to-be-bald halflings in Patagonia vests. A LinkedIn profile that feels like a stand in for a personality. Michael Lewis books and discussions about no limit hold 'em. Golf polos, white sneakers and technical pants. Tequila shots at Surf Lodge. A black Submariner and a banker bag on the way to Equinox.
Bring back a little of the blood, the sex, the drugs, the heart. Remember the industry's wolf-like DNA that attracted most of us in the first place. Return to some of the beauty. Some of the glory.
@FBIDirectorKash Cool bro, how about you arrest some people from the Epstein network instead of constantly posting useless and unnecessary FBI statistics that no one asked for on X?
@holisticbaddie Super nice and flattering but totally unnecessary. Girls are actually so good at letting guys know if / when they are interested before the first move.
I swear, every time I tell a prospective borrower that I need committee approval for changes to a term sheet and that I can't negotiate terms live, they say; "Totally understand you can't negotiate terms live"...immediately before they continue trying to negotiate terms live.
