🚨 Mauricio Pochettino on the greatest Premier League manager between Sir Alex Ferguson and Pep Guardiola:
🗣️ Mauricio Pochettino: “For me, this conversation changes completely when you include what is happening with Manchester City and the 115 charges.
“Before that, you could have a pure football argument.
“You could say Pep transformed the way teams play. You could say his Manchester City produced some of the most dominant football the Premier League has ever seen.
“And I would agree.
“But when you are comparing greatness, you cannot pretend the circumstances around the success don’t matter.
“Sir Alex Ferguson didn’t need sham arrangements or financial deception to build his legacy.
“He won with Aberdeen.
“He went to Manchester United and rebuilt the club.
“He developed players.
“He adapted his teams.
“He kept winning through different generations.
“And he did it without needing the kind of financial questions that now surround Manchester City.
“That matters to me.
“Because if you ask me what makes a manager truly great, I don’t only look at the football.
“I look at the foundation underneath the football.
“Pep deserves enormous credit for what his teams have produced.
“But the 115 charges completely change the conversation.
“If those findings are upheld, you cannot simply look at the trophies and say, ‘This is the greatest manager because he won the most with this team.’
“You have to ask how the team was built.
“How was the squad assembled?
“How were the finances structured?
“Were all the competitors operating under the same rules?
“Those questions matter.
“And that is where Ferguson has something that is very difficult to challenge.
“You can analyse every Manchester United team he built.
“You can debate his tactics.
“You can debate his players.
“You can debate his decisions.
“But you don’t have to wonder whether his achievements need a financial explanation.
“His success stands on its own.
“And that is why, for me, the comparison is no longer simply Ferguson versus Guardiola.
“It’s Ferguson’s legacy against everything surrounding Guardiola’s Manchester City.
“If City are ultimately cleared, then we can return to the football conversation.
“But if the serious findings against the club survive the appeal process, then yes, it changes how you evaluate that era.
“Because winning is one thing.
Winning while everybody knows you played by the same rules is something else.”
🚨🎙️ Roy Keane on Pep Guardiola sending Manchester City a supportive message:
🗣️ “I have to say, I’m genuinely surprised by Pep coming out publicly to support Manchester City while all these allegations are hanging over the club.
For me, it’s simple: if you don’t have anything sensible to say, keep quiet. You’re one of the greatest managers of your generation, so you should understand the responsibility that comes with speaking publicly about something this serious.
If the allegations and findings against City are proven as reported, then football has to come before your personal records, trophies and achievements. You can’t just ignore the bigger picture because you were part of the success.
I expected better from Pep. Football is bigger than Manchester City, bigger than any manager and bigger than any collection of medals. If the game has been damaged, you don’t defend the situation—you demand that the truth comes out and the rules are respected.”
LVG has got probably the biggest incentive
He was fired for losing out on CL Qualification on Goal Difference.
His project was killed because Man Utd reacted to Man City hiring Pep Guardiola
Acap senang.
🚨Jose Mourinho in 2019:
"If I tell you, for example, that I consider one of the best jobs of my career was to finish second with Man United in the Premier League, you will say this guy is crazy. I keep saying this because people don't know what is going on behind the scenes."
Honestly, I'm struggling to believe that Erling Haaland signed a 10-year contract at Manchester City for just £525,000 a week.
And before anyone says anything, £525k is reportedly his fixed salary. His reported bonus structure could take his total earnings significantly higher.
But knowing Manchester City, I wouldn't be surprised if there are other financial arrangements behind the scenes that we don't know about.
You simply can't convince me that one of the best goalscorers in world football, signing a decade-long contract, is only getting £525k a week in total compensation.
Maybe it's £800k. Maybe it's closer to £1m with bonuses and other arrangements.
We simply don't know.
And considering everything that has come to light around Manchester City's financial affairs, I'm certainly not taking every reported figure at face value.
It is what it is.
At least the club's financial issues are finally being dragged into the light.
Just a friendly reminder that Michael Oliver and other Premier League refs were allowed to pop over to the UAE referee a few games and pick up undisclosed payments.
I guess nothing to see here @premierleague Completely fookin normal. 👀
🚨⚪️🔵 FC Porto agree deal to sign Chris Smalling, here we go!
Deal done for the English centre back joining as free agent.
Medical underway right now for English defender joining Porto.
Back in 2016, Manchester City signed John Stones from Everton.
Chelsea had already made three bids for Stones and failed to sign him.
Then Manchester City came in and paid £47.5m for a 22-year-old defender.
Put that fee into today's market and you're looking at something around £100m or even more.
And this is what makes the deal so interesting.
Manchester City weren't just competing with the traditional giants for attackers. They could outmuscle them for elite young English talent too.
Chelsea were already a strong club at the time. They had the money, the reputation and a project that looked very competitive.
But Manchester City's financial power kept growing to a level where other Premier League clubs simply couldn't compete.
John Stones was one of the early examples of what was coming.
City weren't just building a great team.
They were building a financial machine capable of taking players that the traditional giants wanted too.
And eventually, that financial advantage helped transform Manchester City into the powerhouse they are today.
The season is already a joke. City in a title race for the next 9 months when everyone knows they cheated. It's like watching Lance Armstrong leading the Tour De France
Worrying that the PM is coming out with stuff like this 24 hours after they've just been found guilty of 17 years of cheating. Another tone deaf response from a politician who should stick to politics
🚨😂 A new billboard has appeared near Old Trafford after Manchester City's guilty verdict, which reminds us all of THAT iconic Carlos Tevez billboard:
“WELCOME TO SHAMCHESTER.” 👀
📸 @1990sUtd
No one even remembers Eliaquim Mangala. £45m, a total disaster, same as Jovetic (£25m) Negredo (£23m) or Bony (£30m). All signed in a 12-month period. Because there was always more where that came from
Back in 2014, there was a man who was already aware of the irregularities involving Manchester City. That man now runs FIFA. The infamous Gianni Infantino, then UEFA General Secretary, abused his authority, shared confidential documents and, in short, outmanoeuvred the Investigatory Chamber, doing everything in his power to ensure that both Manchester City and PSG would merely receive a fine, avoiding a deeper investigation that could have led to a Champions League ban. All of these details were also revealed through Football Leaks.
Given his actions as UEFA General Secretary and, more recently, as FIFA President, I can only say, in my humble opinion, that Gianni Infantino has become a cancer on football and should have no place in the future of the game.
