The wise need not be governed. Ego doesn't breathe your lungs or beat your heart. Signal (directional concentration - gain) / Noise (spatial dilution - loss)
Wisdom is its own reward. Data, information, knowledge, opinions, beliefs ... the stuff we fill our heads with that we can't take with us only has meaning and purpose to the extent we pursue truth, facts, logic, beauty and wisdom for its own sake. You know it's true.
@LORWEN108 It's called "Plato's Allegory of The Cave" for the more complete version. Plato didn't invent it, though; far more ancient. The Matrix movie series is basically our modern day equivalent of the allegory. The point is to see the cave and step outside it for a greater perspective.
@Naturalphilosy And he eventually died as well. Thinking doesn't save you. In fact, deep thinkers can be quite insane, like Nikola Tesla said. Better to see clearly.
@replacegreen@Amena__Bakr It doesn't have to be a "grand conspiracy" to be true. Power complicates. Consider the public is spoon-fed a steady diet of hogwash, then polled on it. What does it mean? Most people are too busy to care or learn about the inner machinations of (money) power. And so it continues.
@replacegreen@Amena__Bakr Your serious critique of my unserious comment is akin to a sentence without proper punctuation. People elect dictators when better options exist. These same people are "polled" by private news companies with political and financial motives. And you think I care about methodology?
Intellectualization creates a gap or lack of rapport between you and your life. You may think about things so much that you get into the state where you are eating the menu instead of the dinner.
Without the metaphysical bridge between dimension and non-dimension, which cannot be built or unbuilt, there would be no "world" i.e. perspective, proportion, purpose, process, presence, purity, proximity or "peace."
Without birth and death, and without the perpetual transmutation of all the forms of life, the world would be static, rhythm-less, undancing, mummified.
@QuanticASI In other words, if it only exists when observed, then it doesn't really exist because the observer isn't separate from the observed. And yet the atheist will claim there is nothing to be observed, which is metaphysically ignorant or fundamentally retarded.
