Midfield is singlehandedly THE MOST important position in a modern football.
Striker is the most difficult position to excel at as if you aren't Harry Kane or Messi, you need services to score or look good.
Goalkeeper is mentally the most difficult because you are the last man.
Look at France. I genuinely don't get the obsession with spending big on midfielders.
Sign elite attackers & pair them with a midfield that's simply good enough to control transitions and stop counterattacks. That's the winning formula.
Games are decided by attackers.
What a World Cup Pedro Porro has had! Defended brilliantly, attacked brilliantly. Always given everything for Spurs even when it was falling to pieces around him. Lovely guy as well. Deserves all of this.
This is what Roberto De Zerbi had to say on Archie Gray from a pre-match press conference: "He is very young, big potential as a player. I think he can become the future. I am sure he can become the future of this club and the captain of this club."
That's about as strong an endorsement as a 20 year old gets from his own manager, and the tools back it up, not just the words.
Strengths:
🔹Ball carrying: 27th of 124 PL midfielders, top quartile
🔹Composure on the ball: 24th of 136 for ball control
🔹Genuine two-way utility, midfield and right back
🔹Duels and tackle resistance: comfortably mid-to-upper pack at 20 years old
That combination, carrying the ball under pressure while staying composed on it, is exactly the raw material De Zerbi's system is built around. The double pivot isn't a fixed destroyer 6 and box to box 8 split, it's two interchangeable roles defined by relationship to the ball. The one non-negotiable across every midfield role is comfort receiving under committed pressure to actually progress play rather than just recycle it. That's Gray's game already, not a projection of what he might develop into.
What's left, in De Zerbi's own words from that same press conference: "He has to understand better what will be his position on the pitch."
🔹Tackling: 129th of 131 PL midfielders this season
🔹Dribbling: 116th of 119
🔹Both jump sharply in his Champions League minutes the same year, role clarity more than a hard ceiling on the ability
A manager naming your captaincy potential publicly, unprompted, at 20, is rare. Everything in the underlying data says he's earned that belief rather than just been handed it, and once the role settles, there isn't an obvious reason the rest doesn't follow.

Kroupi
Savinho
Maddison
Kudus
Sounds ace until you realise you’d only have;
Solanke
Kulu (maybe)
Tel
Off the bench.
We NEED 3 Attackers signing!!!

@Ben_White86@KallumStubbs97 I think if we get Savinho, we might not need another striker. Savinho is one of the best creater on the wing so even if Solanke isn't considered Kane level striker, he is good enough to be scoring exceptional amount of goals. We need creators that can feed into our striker.
🇧🇷🔵 Savinho (Man City, 21)
🇵🇹🔴 Rafael Leão (Milan, 26)
🇳🇴🟢 Antonio Nusa (Leipzig, 21)
🇳🇱🟡 Crysencio Summerville (West Ham, 24)

@TottiTHFC We definitely have to pay them some money + addons even if we give them players. Sarr is a shout, I don't think they want Richarlison and Davies. Sarr + 50 +15m addons is a valid bid.
I'm just blocking him, just constant cry and lately he's speaking nonsensical things. Obviously it's twitter and he does that for interaction bait to get money but it's just beyond annoying now. Offers nothing except bringing the "controversies" that can get him paid.
Unfortunately, feels this World Cup is just far too predictable now. Underdog stories were fun whilst they lasted.
England beat Norway. Argentina beat Switzerland. France beat Spain. Argentina beat England.
France vs. Argentina rematch in The Final, France come out on top.
Obviously rooting for England, but seeing games like Argentina vs. Egypt, Belgium vs. Switzerland, there is some bullshit screwing over the underdog coming out on top. Whether it be individuals like today, or referees.
Forgot Odobert is also there. If we buy both of those playets this is blaming the players for getting injured and discouragrs them to play for us. Why as a player would be happy to play if once they get injured they are thrown away for a new shiny toy?
I'm actually more mad about spurs fans thinking this is a fifa career mode. Why are we going for both Leao and Savinho? We literally have Moore and Yang looking to break out, and with Xavi and Tel already, it makes absolutely no sense we go for two wingers. It makes me cringe.
Atleti looking very scary next season. I assume they will go for Romero again this window. If they do get him:
Oblak, Molina, Romero defense core
Koke, Lee, Hjulmand very good midfield
Sorloth, Lookman, Alvarez, Simeone attack.
Very very strong team.
🚨🔴⚪️ BREAKING: Morten Hjulmand to Atlético Madrid, here we go! 💣🇩🇰
Sporting and Atléti agreed all terms and start paperwork exchange today for €40m fee plus add-ons.
Danish midfielder joins until June 2031 and he will fly to Madrid TODAY. ✈️
@Ben_White86 I like Savinho more than Leao, but I think our focus should be on the striker. It's unfortunate the striker market is quite limited at the moment.
