Every nationality mocks their diaspora but Italians are unique in their visceral hatred for diaspora Italians. They genuinely feel no sense of kinship with them. It seems counterintuitive to me because American Italians are so successful, wouldn’t you want to claim their success?

Like if an Italian were to migrate today to New York it would never occur to them “there’s many Italians here, it’ll be easy to find an Italian wife/husband”. An Arab coming to Michigan will 100% search for an Arab wife/husband even if the wife/husband are “Americanized”.
