Why is it always god doesn’t want you to abort rather than god gave us the ability to identify severe disabilities early in a pregnancy which allows us to humanely end suffering?
My first year in case management we had an elderly woman found down at the grocery store. She was somnolent then confused. Frail. Kept mentioning a name when she finally woke up — we thought it might be a dog or cat so we called animal control.
It was her disabled son who hadn’t eaten in days, alone.
Our social nets are small and they are shrinking.
But hey, cute tractor video.
Lena The Plug says reports of her divorce are false, claiming a stalker filed the paperwork without her consent and that she’s currently working with the courthouse to reverse it.
“I love my husband, we’ve been together for 10 years”
@God_Is_Sovreign@abcdfgehi@skibidi151612@shanewallick My point is that reacting to stimuli doesn’t tell us whether there’s a subjective experience attached to that reaction.
A thing can respond to something happening without there being any evidence that it actually feels or experiences it.
@listenJimGreene@skibidi151612@God_Is_Sovreign@abcdfgehi@shanewallick apes don’t exceed TODDLERS in every cognitive function because social communication is a cognitive function you retard
Also you just went from young children all the way to newborns.
You know you’re arguing dishonesty. There’s no need for us to continue.
@God_Is_Sovreign@abcdfgehi@skibidi151612@shanewallick A human is conscious. It knows it is feeling something. It knowingly reacts.
If I see a ball and wish to kick it, me kicking the ball is conscious a decision.
A doctor hits my knee with a hammer. Without thinking, my knee reacts to stimuli. Is my knee conscious on its own?
@listenJimGreene@skibidi151612@God_Is_Sovreign@abcdfgehi@shanewallick Similar in only some categories, not all. Especially not in social communication.
If one were to put a treat under 1 of 3 cups, and then gesture to which cup is hiding the treat, the child will have a much easier time detecting that you’re giving it a clue.

@listenJimGreene@skibidi151612@God_Is_Sovreign@abcdfgehi@shanewallick An ape doesn’t even have ALL the cognitive ability of a small child. Only some, like understanding the square goes in the square hole. They don’t match the communication skills.
If you’re gonna make false equivalencies you could at least get your facts right.
@God_Is_Sovreign@abcdfgehi@skibidi151612@shanewallick Consciousness is the ability to have experiences and sensations from a first-person perspective.
Not just “reacting to stimuli”.
A thermostat also reacts to stimuli. But it doesn’t feel the cold or heat. It does not experience.
@God_Is_Sovreign@abcdfgehi@skibidi151612@shanewallick No because a thermostat also reacts to stimuli. A thermostat reacts to the cold. But it cannot experience being cold from a first person perspective.
The fetus must be able to be conscious, to have a sensation. Not merely react to stimuli.
@listenJimGreene@skibidi151612@God_Is_Sovreign@abcdfgehi@shanewallick So that’s when they have conscious. When they have personhood. When they shouldn’t be aborted.
(unless it will kill or seriously harm the to-be mother, or if fetus has a serious condition that will lead to its soon to be death)
@God_Is_Sovreign@abcdfgehi@skibidi151612@shanewallick A baby, just born, can feel cold. It can experience. It has consciousness. It has personhood. It Even fetuses later on into the cycle (which is after when most abortions occur) have consciousness.
Nice try. You Can’t put words in my mouth.
