I really enjoyed this card. A question I see a lot is “Why does Xia Yizhou’s content keep bringing up the past?” and reading the uncensored CN ver of Summer Surge will give you your answer:

Becsuse it is impossible to extricate Xia Yizhou’s love from his identity as our adoptive brother. You can try, but that character will no longer be Xia Yizhou. Gege is who he is today because he suffered through those teenage years being uncertain about where he stood with us. His crashout in Homecoming Wings (Captive Bird) is a direct result of years of anguish; of reminding himself to be good, to always be GOOD! He must be a good brother, and he should never use his authority to lead his sister astray. If his little sister wants him to stay by her side for 100 years, then the role of a brother is the one he will take up for the rest of his life.

But his death and return changed everything, because we had a year to actually process his death and what he meant to us. His absence shattered what we thought our love for him was, and it gave him the opportunity to cross the line with us from siblings to lovers. The reason why his cards feature the past so much is because the seeds of his love were planted all the way back in time, when he was still our adoptive brother. It is grotesque, it is not right; and yet, he harboured this love for his sister all the same. In telling this love story, the past will always be the soil that our story germinates from, because it is the source of his love for us in every single universe.

summer surge highlights caleb's brotherly side so perfectly. he's the annoyingly competitive upperclassman who will tease you and beat you in basketball just for fun, but also the caring gege who guides your hands and teaches you his ways.

of course mc can't win against caleb, who was a part of the basketball team, but he coddles her with so much affection, letting them end the match in a draw just so they can be in sync.
