Happy to see Cruachan 2 has been approved by the Scottish Government. Applied Ecology spent many enjoyable weeks surveying for this project back in 2021, and produced the Ecology and Ornithology chapter for the EIAR. An important and exciting project.

AEL carried out licensed supervision for the partial demolition of the former Overlee Pavilion in 2021, retaining the section of the building used by a colony of soprano pips. Seems to have been a success so far with a good count in 2022, and bats now returning in 2023.

The Glasgow team were out doing water vole survey this week. Plenty of recent activity found, including latrines, burrows, feeding signs and a motorway network of runs. Signs point to this year being be a 'good' vole year. #ecology #watervole

The cambridge office have been out completing great crested newt (GCN) surveys this week in Hertfordshire with 28 GCN recorded from 10 traps. Double-ended funnel traps were used to assist with population surveys #ecology #greatcrestednewt
