#DYK: More than 800 Appomattox County soldiers served in the Confederate Army. One of these men was William J. Hubbard of the "Appomattox Grays," 18th VA. Hubbard was captured at Gettysburg, exchanged in early 1865 and was the only man left in his company to surrender. #CivilWar

#DidYouKnow: The regimental flag of the 127th U.S. Colored Infantry is believed to be the only surviving #USCT flag that was carried at Appomattox. It was painted by African American artist David Bowser and was recently acquired by the Atlanta History Center. #CivilWar#FlagDay
Appomattox Court House National Historical Park will temporarily close effective Wednesday, April 1, in response to the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak. The decision was made in consultation with public health authorities in order to protect visitors, employees and volunteers.
