@ZachWeiner I like to argue about metric vs imperial. C'mon, most of the arguments for metric can be used in imperial, they just aren't in practice. No one uses kilofeet but they totally could. Machinists use thousandths of an inch all the time! (Though I far prefer metric for science)
Lasers are so useful. No more goofy angle gauge to set my #3dprinted adjustable table for my belt grinder.

I think this has satisfied my planter itch for now. Unfortunately, I don’t have a plant to put in it at the moment. Perhaps one of these willow leaf ficus cuttings will go in it once they’ve rooted.

I made the planter using #Fusion360, then exported fa… https://t.co/W1yAmgjKrh
Welcome to my new shop!

I just moved from Atlanta to Seattle and finally have my own garage shop rather than a shared one. May not look like a lot of space, but it'll be plenty to get things off the ground.

Is shou sugi ban still trendy?
.
I applied this shou sugi ban treatment to the workbench to add a splash of color, creating more visual interest. I used an unusual technique involving a heat treating oven that isn't as insulated as I thought.

These 3 knives are all the same steel and bent the same way in a vise. The only difference is the heat treatment.

Left was hardened, but not tempered and snapped without bending at all. The middle one was hardened and tempered. It bent quite a bit, but… https://t.co/QGT7zr4GAq
First firing of my new home-built heat treating oven. Just wanted to test all of the wiring (I'm licking each of the connections to make sure they're properly insulated).

In all seriousness, testing like this is super dangerous, so don't be like me.

Sorry I’ve been so quiet lately. I’ve been working on improving my systems for making my marking knives. Here’s the first of the upgrades I’ve made to my systems: a 3D printed draining rack for the laser cut tip guards the marking knives are shipped in.

Which file markings do you prefer? The pointy triangular file mark or the round file mark?

I ordered a stencil and plan on starting to mark my marking knives. I'd like to keep it in a place where it doesn't draw away from the smooth lines of the tool, … https://t.co/IQyfOSDzEl
What wood would you put on these marking knives?

I'm nearly sold out of marking knives so it's time to make some more. These are rough shaped and in need of some fine shaping, heat treating, and finishing. One is going to have a cocobolo handle (they'v… https://t.co/XQbR21hHXG

Circuit boards, but not for circuits.

I’ve been playing around with some ideas for using printed circuit boards (PCBs) in unusual ways. This is a corner bracket design I made for use with 2020 aluminum t-slot extrusion. The soldered joints aren’t super… https://t.co/x1J9WtjHDj
