Our attorney general needs to hold Prospect’s leaders accountable for what they’ve done, and Pennsylvania lawmakers must pass legislation to keep private equity out of our hospitals: Opinion https://t.co/5STnvocy95 via @phillyinquirer
@lfeinberg .@PHLschoolboard holding a budget hearing today. APPS members will again be advocating for certified school librarians. #PhlEd students should not be cheated out of school libraries.
Stated meeting of @PHLCouncil opens with a prayer. Meeting starting over an hour later as Council held an Appropriations Committee hearing just before. #PhlEd
More deception from @PHLschoolboard: there are 2 separate meetings this Thursday--action mtg and budget hearing, with 2 separate speaker lists. Board has posted only 1 on its calendar. #PhlEd#SpeakerSuppression https://t.co/E00ST7z86t
@Haver_Lisa@PHLschoolboard ECC talking about 193 "pre-enrollment forms". No pre-enrollment forms were in the materials issued to the public. There was noticeable little evidence of public support. BTW no charter school is truly op-enrollment. There are target zip codes, an enrollment process, & lottery.
@Haver_Lisa@PHLschoolboard or @PHLschoolboard Pres Streater could ask why charter applicant wants to take students from North & West Phila--but doesn't want to open its school there...? #PhlEd
@Haver_Lisa@PHLschoolboard .@PHLschoolboard Pres Streater apologizes to applicant if his questions are "too rudimentary". Actually they are. How about he asks how opening one more charter is going to make a dent in poverty? #PhlEd
@Haver_Lisa@PHLschoolboard Applicant now listing all targeted zip codes--none of which is 19102 where the school would be located. Why? This applicant doing what many before have--promising to lessen poverty in Phila by opening 1 new charter. #PhlEd
Wondering if @PHLschoolboard Pres Streater read this charter application; questions are very general. APPS members did read the app--we have some very specific questions about app deficiencies/omissions/misleading information #PhlEd
#CAB board member (and Belmont Charter CEO) asks about the deficiencies of Hillsdale app; atty says Hillsdale has "no intention" of violating any state requirements. Problem he skirts is that the law requires specific assurances in the application itself.
