Not enough adults are understanding that they have to create moments of happiness in their lives. Find things to be excited about. Create plans to look forward to. Decorate the house during holidays. Make a playlist you only listen to on Tuesdays. Keep your favorite snacks stocked in case of a bad day. You have more control over your joy than you think.

My wife comes from a "cat family." My family and I were not pet people. I have resisted her requests for cat for nearly 12 years. She then had 3 kids and waited for several years for them to grow into her cat cult chorus. For the past few weeks, it was 4 against 1. I still held out. Today, my kids brought their friends from the neighborhood and it became 8 against 1.

A school friend was giving away kittens.

They all ganged up on me. Sigh.

We have a new kitten.
