And, one of my favorite podcasts, @tpwky, has covered sickle cell and organ transplants recently, both of which depend on transfusions. (If you want to do any episodes on blood and blood transfusion, I got you @epidemicerin and @theedubs. Itโs fascinating!)
I geek out a little when TV shows and podcasts talk about blood transfusion and donation. (Thank you, 13+ years in blood banking.) The most recent episode of @NBCNewAmsterdam centered around a severe, city-wide blood shortage and Max wasnโt having it.
A few weeks ago, @ResidentFOX featured the specific blood needs of those with sickle cell disease and how treatments could be delayed if the unique, specially-matched blood they need isnโt available.
You probably don't think about blood donations when you see snow storms and sub-zero temperatures, but I sure do! Extreme weather this month caused blood drive cancellations and kept many donors at home. Make an appointment to help by donating blood at https://t.co/YGC1XaRXvA.
"I found out that people with sickle cell disease really depend on donors like me. They are mostly Black people and can require a lot of blood transfusions from folks of the same race or who have a similar ethnicity."
My heart breaks for those back home in the Pensacola area on the anniversary of Ivan. Itโs hard to see your community devastated and not be there, but Iโm grateful that my friends and family are all physically safe. https://t.co/uZ3XLwSepS
@markmoh Just noticed it makes it sound like I'm excited about the app for the price. I mean, I am, but I'm more excited about one monthly charge as opposed to three. #ItsTheLittleThings
@markmoh I'm even more excited by the Apple One plans. I'm already paying for iCloud and iMusic, for about $10 more, I can also add Fitness+? Yes, please!
@JMUJONMAC Right there with you, Jonathan. My anxiety disorder is my superpower and my kryptonite. Most days are OK, but on the bad days, I want to slither out of my skin and disappear. #ItsOkayNotToBeOkay
As someone who has worked in the blood industry for 13 years, this was a great episode. Totally could have been a two-parter too. @tpwky@theedubs@epidemicerin, I support a blood-focused episode. Itโs a surprisingly fascinating subject, but I may be biased.๐ฉธ
@PRSA Iโve had generalized anxiety disorder my entire adult life - and probably into childhood - so I wrote a blog about it with some tips early on in the Dumpster Fire that is 2020: https://t.co/5HednIapoB
Another recent add: Read a book before bed instead of social or news stories.
If youโve recovered from #COVID19, sign up to give your plasma. My aunt was diagnosed about 2 weeks ago, hospitalized last week & has been in ICU since. She started convalescent plasma treatments this week & is seeing improvement. Families like mine will be eternally grateful.
What is convalescent plasma and why is it so critical for #COVID19 patients still fighting the virus? Dr. Erin Goodhue, our Executive Medical Director of Patient Services, explains. Learn more: https://t.co/B3fPwgwzsx
If you or someone you know was diagnosed with and has recovered from #COVID19, your plasma may be able to help those fighting it. Learn more and sign up at https://t.co/TMTowS4Z6F

@hthrlckhrt Lots of bands have been influenced by them. They kind of bridged shoegaze and post-hardcore. Considering their lone big radio hit was in โ95, youโve probably heard more bands influenced by them than you realize - even the Deftones!
