When Jay Collins announced that he was running for governor in January, I said I was going to support him. I have also said that my second choice was Paul Renner.

I donated to Jay Collins's campaign to help in his journey. I signed up to receive notifications in hopes that I would receive information about volunteering for him in Miami-Dade.

At first, his policy statements were broad, which is okay at the start of a campaign. But, I always thought that as time went by, he would roll out more detailed policies but it didn't happen.

Yesterday, when he debated Paul Renner and James Fishback, I went into the debate still supporting him because I thought finally he will explain his policies under fire and show us that he's ready to be governor.

After watching the debate, I have changed my mind about the candidate I am going to vote for and support the rest of this primary.

This is why debates are so important for the voters. What the Republican Party of Florida has done to deprive voters of a robust televised debate with all the candidates along with Byron Donalds' refusal to debate his opponents are the most disrespectful actions taken against the Republican base that I have ever experienced!

After last night's debate, I have decided my support will be for @Paul_Renner!

I have always said that I believe Renner will continue governor DeSantis's conservative agenda if elected. I have always said that he was an excellent Speaker of the House and an integral part of moving the governor's conservative agenda forward in that capacity.

At last night's debate, Renner showed that he deeply understands policy and how government works to get it done. He showed that he doesn't waver on the issues and can defend his stances under pressure. He showed that he can articulate my conservative principles.

I have tremendous respect for Jay Collins. He fought bravely for our country. He is a good man and could serve us well in a GOP administration or in a legislative capacity. I wish him luck in all future endeavors.

I have friends who support Jay Collins and I respect that. I will not disrespect you because you support him. In my opinion, we should be putting our efforts supporting our own candidate and exposing Byron Donalds for the empty suit he is.

Let's get moving if you support Renner for Governor of Florida.
