The next step in the build was a two-motor design.
One motor hovers, but it wants to spin the whole assembly. The idea was to use two rotors spinning in opposite directions.
This is the CAD model before building and testing them together.
A closer look at the first hover test.
The motor lifts off the copper. I’m only holding the wires to stop the whole thing from spinning.
The plan is to add a second motor spinning the other way.
Day 2 of building a hoverboard. The first motor hovers over copper.
The magnets kept flying out, a solder joint broke, and I fried an ESP32. I replaced the board and tried again.
I’m holding the wires to stop it turning. Now I need to build the second motor.
Day 1 of building a hoverboard from scratch. Initial design done, motor running. Next up: installing the rotor and testing lift.
Catching up on the build here. Follow along to see if this thing actually hovers.
