Bacterial spot on tomato caused by species of Xanthomonas. Symptoms appear on leaves (initially on older leaves), fruit & stems. Lesions turn dark brown w/t a slight yellow halo. Hard to manage under wet weather & presence of copper resistant strains of pathogen #Tomato #Bacteria

Yesterday was #dragonfruit #pitaya #pitahaya day! We toured several farms, most of them very well managed. We still were able to find some pest and diseases 👇🏻 including snail 🐌 damage on fruit and wet rot disease.

On June 4, 2025, Baysal-Gurel lab hosted Junior Master Gardener class for 28 elementary school students. The educational program themed “Fungi Among Us,” introduced young learners to fungi through hands-on activities, including demonstrations of plant pathogenic fungi.
